This yarn makes me re-evaluate my priorities and move knitting up a few notches. It is made of natural and color-grown brown roving strands twisted together to form a thick and thin alternating texture, with the thick approximating worsted weight. The texture and the natural colors result in an interesting and somewhat rustic knitted item. The cafe brown color-grown fiber will deepen in color when washed in warm/hot water and machine dried. This treatment will result in up to 10-15% shrinkage, so be sure to account for that when you test out your gauge if you plan to intensify the brown color. If you want the color to stay as is with no shrinkage, either machine wash or hand wash in cool water and lay flat to dry. On US size 8, 9, or 10 needles, this yarn knits up at 4.5-3.5 stitches per inch (slightly chunky on a size 10). Each hank is 50g and measures 73 yards. Made in Peru.

Note to composters: I just can’t imagine that you would ever compost this yarn, but you could (and let’s face it, even hand knitted items wear out eventually). On that sad day, at least you can make good soil out of it.
